So make room on your shelf for a powerful new mechanical model that has just been added to the Ugears automotive collection. Introducing the Cobra Drift racing car , a two-seat convertible with elegant lines that was inspired by perhaps the most famous sports car of all time: the Shelby Cobra 427. The Cobra 427 , manufactured between 1965 and 1967, was rated 7 .0 liter engine with 450-510 hp, accelerated from 0 to 100 km/h in just over 4 seconds and had a top speed of 260 km/h.

With its powerful spring drive, the Cobra Drift racing car from Ugears has more horsepower under the hood than any other mechanical wooden model we know of. The model is opened under the chassis using a key. Before winding up your 3D wooden model Cobra Drift racing car, move the air filter that extends from the hood to the windshield and turn the switch in front of the passenger seat to the lock position (parallel to the door). Then turn the key under the car. After 6 to 6.5 turns, the spring is fully wound and it starts - hum, hum-hum! — Your race car is ready to roar! Move the shift lever between the driver and passenger seats to the desired position (reverse, neutral, forward). To start the model, place it on a flat surface, push the air filter forward and your Cobra will drift off at full throttle (the wheels must be turned in a sideways direction when starting), drive in circles or zoom along the course in a straight line along the route.

For us, this 3D puzzle / DIY model is a gem, with wide tires, arched shapes (thanks to the pieces precisely laser-cut in 1mm thick plywood), its wide grille and its open convertible design. The moving parts of the wooden car include the rotating front wheels, the opening doors, as well as the hood and the trunk lid, which can be opened. Instead of a rubber band motor, we used a powerful spring mechanism to give this race car its power and extend the life of the model. Thanks to the locking mechanism, you don't have to hold the key when winding it - with each revolution the potential energy is stored without loss until the strong spring inside is fully tensioned. To put the model into drift mode, turn the front wheels completely in one direction or the other. Then place it on a smooth surface (e.g. tiles) and your model will drift sideways (ideally, depending on the surface and the angle of rotation of the wheels, it should complete a half to a full turn before moving on). When the wheels are set straight, the model travels a considerable distance — 8 meters or more! If you turn the wheels less or place the race car on a less smooth surface, your Cobra Drift will make two or three full circles.
