UGEARS® is pleased to present the Mechanical Tellurium , which represents our little corner of the universe in the form of a precise wooden model. A tellurium (sometimes called a loxocosm) is an ingenious mechanism that illustrates the cosmic dance of the sun, earth and moon. Through the movements of this 3D puzzle you can see and understand why it becomes day and night, what determines the phases of the moon and why the seasons change. A tellurium (from Latin, tellus, "earth") is similar to an orrery , depicting the relative positions and movements of the solar system's planets and moons in a heliocentric model. Assemble the exciting Tellurium kit and enjoy showing it to your family and friends.

Turn the crank to activate the precisely calibrated gear system . One revolution of the crank = one revolution of the earth on its axis = one day. Point to a spot on the Earth's surface, observe the position of the rotating Earth in relation to the Sun, and imagine sunrise and sunset, the transition from day to night.

As it orbits, the moon rises and falls slightly, changing its line of motion. The Earth's orbit around the Sun, along with the correct representation of the Earth's 23.5 degree tilt on its axis, shows why the seasons change (except in regions near the equator). The Tellurium shows the progression of the seasons and also provides an excellent graphical representation of the zodiac, allowing you to see the zodiac sign and the constellation under which you were born.
